The October Financial MOT
October is traditionally the month when we start preparing for winter. The heating goes on, the winter coat comes out, and we begin wondering where the summer went.
It’s also a good time to review our finances. Unfortunately, unlike the car, our bank balance doesn’t come with a warning light.
Imagine if it did. A flashing red light might appear every time we bought something we didn’t really need, accompanied by a rather irritating voice saying, “Are you absolutely sure about that?”
Perhaps financial planning would be a lot easier if our bank accounts came with a built-in mechanic. Unfortunately, for now, we’re stuck checking the statements ourselves!
